There are not that many designers who find their inspiration around our lives. Vivienne Westwood and her husband, Andreas Kronthaler bringing the attention to Paris Fashion Week and showing their greatest inspiration came from the sinking Venice.
Vivienne Westwood brought our a strong message and presented her Spring Summer 2016 Gold Label Collection. The show called 'Mirror the World' and it refelcting to the hot topic about saving Venice. Sad to even mention, the slowly-sinking Venice became the centre stage on the Paris catwalk. A pre-show film on Vivienne Westwood's blog saw she spoke of Venice as an "emporium culture", citing painters Titian and Bellini, and the wonderful city's carnival as her main inspiration.
Designers has increasingly used the catwalk to raise awarness about political issues. In one of her recent show, she have made reference to the threat to tribal communities in Peru from illegal logging and the cruelty of pig farming. Her last collection in Paris, for the Autumn Winter 2015 had a disco themed set, a great band before the show and Gwendoline Christie walked the runway.
Without a doubt, the campaigning keeps her in the news. It is great that Vivienne Westwood keeping the talking-point and great to riase awareness to the public. Fashion is full, but yet a business we need to take care of, as well as our society.
